I grew up about as far from the ocean as possible, in a small rice-farming village in northeast Thailand. Before my first "blue water" passage, the biggest boats I'd been aboard were the small dugout punts used to fish the Mun River.
After arriving in the U.S. in 2009, I worked for several years as an assistant dock master at Magothy Marina off the Chesapeake Bay.
On passage, I am the designated cook and the expedition photographer, but increasingly I have taken up more of the sailing duties, too. I also hope to get more comfortable with navigation and other aspects of the boat.
As we set sail, I plan to keep a blog in Thai and otherwise hope to chronicle my journey for an audience in my native country.
